Hello MCMA Members,
Have you secured a delegation meeting at the upcoming AMO Conference (August 16–19)?
As discussed at the MCMA Conference, the Board is working to shift our advocacy narrative from a focus on revenue generation to one centred on the integrity and sustainability of the justice system. To support a consistent and coordinated approach, we would like to connect with municipalities that have secured delegation meetings at AMO and discuss opportunities to align our messaging.
This request stems from the good idea brought forward by Kelly Wiebenga from the County of Lambton. Lambton has secured a delegation meeting at AMO to advocate for increases to POA set fines, costs, and fees. The objective is to support community safety by strengthening the deterrent effect of penalties for repeat offences while helping to ensure the long-term sustainability of POA program delivery.
If your municipality has secured a delegation meeting and would be interested in participating in a pre-AMO discussion, please let your Board representative know.
